Tri-C to Put Levy on November Ballot

—Rachel Abbey McCafferty

Cuyahoga Community College is putting a 1.9-mill renewal levy on the ballot in November.

The proposed levy would come with a 0.4-mill increase, according to a news release. The college's board of trustees voted Tuesday, June 25, to put the measure on the Nov. 5 ballot.

If passed, the levy would cost an additional $1.17 per month on a $100,000 home, the release stated. Collection would begin in 2020 and run for 10 years.

"Education is a building block for success," Tri-C president Alex Johnson said in the release. "This levy is essential for providing county residents the opportunity to benefit from the power and value of a Tri-C education."

The release said the college is seeking this levy to keep education "affordable and accessible" for county residents.
